Connected Strategy

Alignment of all channels to commercial outcomes

Brief & Objectives

WP Motors partnered with Ruby Digital to build a more connected digital marketing approach across paid search, organic search, paid social, organic social and email marketing. As a pre-owned vehicle dealership, WP Motors needed more than isolated channel activity. Prospective vehicle buyers often move between search, social, website visits and follow-up communication before making an enquiry or progressing toward a purchase decision.

The objective was to strengthen the entire digital journey rather than optimise each platform in isolation. Ruby Digital set out to improve search visibility, increase the relevance of key landing pages, support demand generation through social media, nurture prospects through email marketing and create a practical full-funnel measurement process. By connecting marketing activity to offline lead outcomes, WP Motors could move from simply counting enquiries to understanding which channels, campaigns and customer journeys were contributing to lead quality and business growth.

Challenges

Since WP Motors partnered with Ruby Digital, the omni-channel strategy was shaped by four major challenges:

1. Limited lead-source visibility across Search and Social.

Website enquiries entered a highly restricted CRM without consistently retaining the GCLID or FBCLID associated with the original click. As a result, WP Motors could see that a form had been submitted, but could not reliably connect that enquiry to the channel, campaign, ad interaction or search journey that generated it.

2. Lead volume did not provide a reliable picture of lead quality.

Google Ads, Meta and other digital touchpoints could record completed forms, but some enquiries were later disqualified after sales follow-up. Without a structured way to distinguish MQLs, SQLs, won deals and DQs, the platforms risked receiving the same signal for both strong and weak enquiries, making optimisation less commercially useful.

3. Website language and channel messaging were not fully aligned with buyer intent.

Important pages focused broadly on “cars for sale”, while many prospective buyers searched using more specific terms such as “used cars for sale” and “second-hand cars for sale”. This reduced the alignment between search intent, ad messaging, landing-page content and the broader social and email messaging used to support the customer journey.

4. CRM limitations made closed-loop reporting difficult.

The existing CRM made it difficult to create an immediate closed-loop reporting process across Search, Social, Email and sales follow-up. The team needed a practical interim system that sales staff could use consistently while a custom CRM was being developed, without delaying the collection of valuable lead-quality data or the return of offline outcomes to marketing platforms.

Our Solutions

Ruby Digital developed an integrated omni-channel strategy that connected SEO, Google Ads, Paid Social, Organic Social and Email Marketing around one shared objective: helping WP Motors attract more suitable vehicle buyers, understand lead quality more clearly and support enquiries through the full journey from discovery to sales follow-up.

Rather than treating each channel as a separate campaign, the strategy was designed around how prospective buyers actually behave. A buyer might first see WP Motors on social media, return later through Google Search, click a paid search result, submit an enquiry on the website and then need follow-up communication before becoming a qualified sales opportunity. The strategy therefore needed to connect demand generation, demand capture, nurturing and offline sales feedback into one coordinated system.

Connecting the Search and Social Journey

The Search layer focused on capturing high-intent demand from users who were actively looking for used vehicles, second-hand cars or dealership options. Google Ads gave WP Motors visibility at the point of active intent, while SEO strengthened the dealership’s organic presence over time through technical improvements, content optimisation and stronger alignment with customer search behaviour.

Core landing pages were updated to describe WP Motors more accurately as a used car dealership, with greater focus on high-intent phrases such as “second-hand cars for sale” and “used cars for sale”. Supporting blog content and on-page improvements helped broaden relevance, while paid search activity captured immediate demand from buyers already expressing purchase intent.

Paid Social and Organic Social supported a different part of the journey. These channels helped create visibility, maintain brand presence, showcase vehicles, build trust and keep WP Motors in front of prospective buyers before they were ready to enquire. Email Marketing then supported follow-up, nurturing and re-engagement, helping WP Motors stay connected with prospects beyond the first interaction.

Building a Shared Attribution Foundation

A key part of the strategy was improving visibility beyond the form submission. Website forms were updated to capture both GCLID and FBCLID values, allowing WP Motors to retain the click identifier attached to an enquiry and link that lead back to the marketing channel that generated it.

Because the existing CRM could not support the required level of customisation, a Google Sheets workflow was introduced while a custom CRM was being developed. This gave the team a practical way to record lead source data, track enquiry progression and prepare lead-quality outcomes for upload into the relevant advertising platforms.

Optimising Around Lead Quality, Not Just Lead Volume

A consistent lead-grading framework was created so WP Motors could classify enquiries as Marketing Qualified Leads, Sales Qualified Leads, Won deals or Disqualified leads. This allowed the marketing team to distinguish between an initial form submission and a lead that showed stronger commercial potential after sales follow-up.

Qualified offline conversion outcomes were then uploaded back into Google Ads and used to strengthen optimisation around meaningful business outcomes rather than surface-level enquiries alone. The same lead-quality insight could also inform Paid Social audiences, Organic Social content themes, email segmentation, nurture journeys and broader customer-retention activity.

Creating a Unified Full-Funnel Marketing System

The final strategy connected each channel to a distinct role in the buyer journey. SEO and Google Ads captured active search demand. Paid Social and Organic Social generated demand, supported consideration and reinforced credibility. Email Marketing helped nurture and re-engage prospects after the first interaction. Attribution and offline conversion feedback then brought these channels together by showing which journeys were contributing to qualified leads and sales opportunities.

By approaching the campaign as an omni-channel system, Ruby Digital gave WP Motors a stronger foundation for decision-making. The strategy was not only to generate more traffic or more form submissions, but to understand how multiple channels work together to attract the right buyers, guide them through the sales journey and optimise marketing activity around the outcomes that matter most to the business.

Results

Between April 2026 and August 2026, WP Motors established a clearer and more commercially relevant view of performance across Search, Paid Social, Organic Social and Email Marketing. The project moved reporting beyond form submissions by connecting captured click identifiers to a consistent lead-grading process, helping the team understand not only where enquiries came from, but which enquiries showed stronger commercial potential.

The updated forms retained both GCLID and FBCLID data, allowing enquiries to be traced back to their originating channels. Leads could then be classified as MQL, SQL, Won or DQ in the interim Google Sheets workflow, creating better visibility into the quality of the opportunities generated by marketing.

By uploading qualified offline conversions and assigned values to Google Ads, Ruby Digital gave the platform stronger optimisation signals and reduced its reliance on unqualified form submissions. This created a stronger foundation for paid search performance, because Google Ads could begin learning from lead quality rather than lead volume alone.

At the same time, technical SEO, content optimisation, supporting blogs and revised landing pages aligned the website more closely with high-intent searches for used and second-hand cars. This gave WP Motors a stronger organic foundation while Google Ads continued to capture immediate demand from buyers actively searching in the market.

Together, these changes created an omni-channel performance framework in which Search, Paid Social, Organic Social and Email each had a distinct role but shared the same commercial objective: attract more suitable prospects, understand where valuable leads came from, help buyers progress toward purchase and support business revenue through sales.
